Happy Birthday HIT Energy Services

Three years ago, there was an idea for a new innovation in the renewable world – since then it has grown into a business that looks after Solar PV worth £18.5m.

These systems we monitor are spread across the U.K. and Ireland and produce enough energy to power 3,500 houses.

It seems fitting that as HIT Energy Services celebrates its third birthday, that we open our third base aimed at serving our ever-growing network of customers.

This is at Atherstone Hill, Warwickshire, while we also have offices at the Active Business Centre in Bury St Edmunds and our head office in Lincoln.

These are in addition to our monitoring base at Lincoln University, where we hope to continually develop our technology with some of its brightest minds.

“It seems crazy to think an idea we had around a pool table and has grown to be a U.K. wide operation looking after Solar PV worth nearly £20m,” said Simon Hopkins of HIT Energy Services.

“In many ways, the time has flown as we have worked with so many great people in an industry we are passionate about.

“The awards and recognitions are testament to all the hard work the team has put in to help people live greener lives.”

Despite the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown having a big impact in 2020, it was still a big year for the company.

HIT Energy Services beat hundreds of other organisations to be named seventh in the Midlands Tech 50 list of the areas top innovators.

The company has achieved many other things in its first three years, including winning the innovation product of the year, being highly commended in the innovation in sustainability category at the Lincolnshire Technology and Innovation Awards in 2019 and Online Innovation at the NEC’s LAMMA 2020.

Simon added: “In three years, it has grown from an idea to something that is helping more and more people in every part of the U.K.

“While 2020 was difficult in many ways, we were able to improve our offering further and reach more people.

“We are all really excited about the future and believe we can keep growing and making solar power a reliable form of energy for everyone.”

When the company started out, we saw a need to help all the farmers, small businesses and landowners who had Solar PV systems installed at huge expense at a time when there were incentives for feeding into the National Grid.

But because solar power ticks all the boxes of being green, environmentally friendly and renewable, we began to innovate further and to try to ensure it could be a reliable stream of energy for anyone.

We have had a great three years, but want to make our fourth our best yet.
