A Quick Look Back..- August 2021

HIT Energy August Newsletter

Welcome to our August newsletter, with the lifting of Covid restrictions we hope everyone has come through the pandemic in good health and kept life and business on an even keel. The team at HIT Energy have remained very busy throughout, exceeding expectations on new installs as well as a high level remedial works. We hope you enjoy this update of our last quarter.

Meet the Team

Craig Coates

Craig joined us in 2015 and over the years has become an integral part of our site engineer team, not only looking after our large customer base of solar PV but also leading a team of electricians looking after one of our oldest customers, installing and maintaining the electrical works within their large manufacturing factory.

Before joining HIT Craig was working as a time served domestic electrician and still prides himself on getting the job done in a timely manner while always continuing to be happy and polite at all times, in short always putting the customer first.

When not keeping the nation solar powered, Craigs hobbies include football supporting his beloved Leeds United, oh well Craig someone needs to love them! As well as spending time with his family although renovating his newly acquired farm house is currently his new labour of love.

Simon Hopkins

Simon Hopkins – Our very own Technical Director, Simon set up HIT after a lengthy conversation with his mates over a game of pool, when they decided that there was a real niche in the market of Solar PV, lots of companies installing solar panels but no one maintaining or monitoring them, and so it began!

After 3 years of intense research and develop the HIT Guard was developed and although we call this Simon;s baby he does have 2 real life babies (although not such babies now) When time allows Simons hobbies include following the red side of Manchester and cycling, having taken part in sponsored cycle rides for charity he now keeps fit in the comfort of his home gym on his new peloton bike!

After nearly 4 years, Simon still remains passionate about the world of solar and is more confident than ever that all his hard work continues to make a difference to farmers, landowners and businesses who invest in it. Simon says “Our company ethos is and always will be, customers come first. We strive to assist, monitor and maintain our customers solar PV systems to a level that ensures maximum revenue is earned by the customer all year round in the most efficient and cost effective way for them”

Cereals 2021

So the 30th June & 1st July bought our first live show since the pandemic in the shape of Cereals 2021 at Boothby Graffoe, incidentally the home of one of our customers.

The weather held up and the farmers arrived, the food and drink flowed, the demonstrations went ahead and although numbers were down on previous years it gave everyone a real feeling of normality starting to return, we even got to meet Kaleb from Clarksons Farm!

It was good to meet customers old and new and have a nice face to face chat after such a long hard year. Let’s hope this is the start of many events to come.

FRAM Farmers Members Day

Mid July saw us accepting an invitation from FRAM Farmers to attend one of their summer members’ days in Cambridgeshire. What a great day it was, meeting the FRAM team and their members while enjoying demonstrations and updates from key speakers.

Although it was a breezy day I think everyone agreed that the amazing breakfast & lunch made up for chasing and retrieving our brochures and banners all day!

Another welcome back to normality and what a great bunch of people the whole team at FRAM are along with all their members. Long may our relationship continue.

Luke's Tip of the Month

Harvest time, a very busy time for the farming community but also a time when your PV system should be earning its keep and be at its most productive.

We find the biggest problem this time of the year, especially for systems located on grain stores, is dust. Dust is the devil where inverters are concerned and a high percentage of faults we attend are from fans being clogged causing overheating, left for too long in a state of fault can cause new fans being required.

To avoid this we suggest booking an annual health check and panel cleaning to ensure a problem free and productive year.

As always thank you for your valued custom and we’ll see you all before Christmas for more news, updates and handy hints.
